This Porsche 911 started out life like any other Porsche, a fun, sporty car looking for some cruising time on the open road. 1,200 hp Gemballa/9ff Porsche 911. By. The GTR 650 AvalancheGemballa Avalanche 4x4 Gemballa Avalanche 4x4 Gemballa Avalanche 4x4 Gemballa Avalanche 4x4 German tuner Gemballa released sketches of a Porsche 911 put on seriously tall stilts that it plans to bring to production. Called Avalanche 4x4, and presumably named after the snow cascade rather than the versatile Chevrolet truck, the model will land in a class of one when it makes its full debut before the end of 2020. This mutant off-roader shares represents a dramatic departure from the low-slung, rear-engined coupe it started life as. It's unusually tall, it's rolling on tires we'd expect to find under the new Ford Bronco, and every single one of its body panels has received some degree of modification. The front end gets a shorter bumper that improves its approach angle, a NACA duct, and deep vents. There are additional vents behind the doors and on the roof, while the back end is characterized by a chopped-up bumper, a new diffuser, and a huge wing. The car shown in the sketches is based on the last-generation 911, which is known as the 991 internally. Gemballa explained it will be able to turn the current, 992-generation model into an Avalanche 4x4 as well. Performance specifications haven't been released yet. The tuner pointed out it currently offers a package that bumps the 911's output to 818 horsepower, and it's working on raising that figure to 1,000 horsepower by summer 2020. The kit will be compatible with 991- and 992-generation variants of the emblematic Porsche. Regardless, the Avalanche 4x4's performance data will "outshine all comparable vehicles," the firm pledged. Are there comparable vehicles on the market? The 700-horsepower Laffite G-Tec X-Road will come close, assuming it reaches production, as will the Lamborghini Steratto concept introduced in 2019 if it sees the light that awaits at the end of a production line. And, although the Avalanche 4x4 is strongly reminiscent of the lifted 959 that won the 1986 Paris-Dakar, Porsche hasn't built anything like it since. In other words, right now, the best way to put an off-roading supercar in your garage is to build it yourself, or to track down one of the five or six examples of the V12-powered Mega Track made by French firm Aixam between 1992 and 2000. Avalanche 4x4 production will be limited to "an exclusive small series." Production will start by the end of 2020. The announcement comes as Gemballa prepares to split its business into three divisions. Called Hypercar, the first will — you guessed it — work on a standalone hypercar with over 800 horsepower. The firm's Luxury Customization division will focus on making one- and few-off models, while the Classics arm will be responsible for maintaining and restoring vintage Gemballa vehicles. All three branches will be based in Germany. The Luxury Customization Division will be greatly expanded in the future in addition to Hypercar development Leonberg, Gemballa, the world renowned southern German refinement and tuning company, will in future divide its business areas into three separate divisions. The development and production of the first own Gemballa Hypercar will be done in the Hypercar Division (HD). Additionally, the Luxury Customization Division (LCD) will group together the previous areas of vehicle refinement, performance enhancements, limited small series and one-offs. The Gemballa Classics Division (CD) will now be responsible for the maintenance and restoration of classic Gemballa vehicles. Delimitation of the business areas for more dynamism “With the delimitation of the individual business areas and the management as a separate profit centre, we want to ensure a clearer corporate structure. This should especially also have a positive impact on current fundraising activities. All areas are currently being equipped with new investments and will be greatly expanded in the future. The focus remains on expanding our already high quality standards. We will be introducing numerous new models over the next 24 months and expanding our dealer network worldwide,” states Steffen Korbach, owner and CEO of Gemballa. New Gemballa Avalanche 4x4 and Tornado 4x4 He continues: “First and foremost, we will continue to focus on customizing and increasing the performance of Porsche models, but we are also open to other brands. The prototype of the Gemballa Avalanche RS based on the Porsche 991, which was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017, is now to be launched this year in an exclusive small series based on the Porsche 991 and 992. The performance data will outshine all comparable vehicles. In 2016, we already discussed the development of a 4x4 variant of the Porsche Cayenne as the Gemballa Tornado 4x4 and the Porsche 911 as the Gemballa Avalanche 4x4. Designs for both vehicles have been in the drawer for a long time.” Performance increase with over 1,000 HP in preparation The Luxury Customization Division is currently marketing very successfully the body kit conversion for the Porsche 991/992 under the name “GTR 8XX Evo-R BiTurbo” with an increase in performance to currently 818 bhp and 1,098 Nm and an acceleration of seconds from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) and a top speed of over 370 km/h (230 mph). A performance variant with over 1,000 bhp is being worked on and will be launched in the summer. High investments in development and expansion of high quality standards “After years of consolidation, we are now preparing a major product offensive with new considerable investments,” says Steffen Korbach, adding: “A lot has changed in our sector. Stricter state guidelines and laws, new trends, and competition from vehicle manufacturers are having a massive impact on the vehicle customization business. We have worked long and hard and since 2010 have invested over 15 million Euro in modernizing the brand and improving product quality. All of this with the aim of standing out from the mainstream also in the future.”

Gemballa can help...9 Mar 2017Most Porsche owners are very happy with their cars as they left the Porsche factory, but there’s always a few who would like something a little more ‘bespoke’. Luckily for those owners, there are plenty of tuning companies out there, but few make an impression like latest model from the German-based Porsche specialist is the new Avalanche - a 911 Turbo S-based supercar making its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor on its third generation, the Avalanche builds on the current car’s bi-turbo flat-six, lifting power from 572bhp to a slightly insane 796bhp. Torque has also been increased to 700lb ft from an already stout 516lb ft, so it’s a pretty fair guess that the Avalanche will offer plenty of performance. Giving new meaning to the term pram handle, it sits alongside a whole suite of styling changes that vary from unsubtle to outright challenging. An intake scoop has been secured to the top of the rear screen to divert air towards the well as a wing seemingly pinched from the underside of a hydroplane, Gemballa has installed a huge quad exhaust system - reminiscent of the exhaust ports of a fighter jet - alongside redesigned bodywork and aggressive rear diffuser. The side profile is equally insane. Gold 21-inch wheels cloak the yellow calipers, indicating the presence of Porsche's carbon ceramic anchors, all contrasted by the purply-blue hue. The black doors are inset into the body, creating a crevice in the rear-quarter to funnel cool air to the brakes. Copious smatterings of carbonfibre are never far from in front - 62mm wider than standard - the Avalanche’s front lid is seemingly inspired by the Corvette Z06, with a carbon hump giving owners a bit of extra space to store their ego. Dubbed the Avalanche 4×4, the custom ride sees the traditionally sleek sports car reimagined as bruising all-terrain vehicle that’s ready to get down and dirty. The car resembles your everyday 911—whose mother just happens to be a monster truck. The normally low-profile speedster has been given a significant height boost to allow room for some chunky off-road tires. The body panels have been reworked to give the car a more bulbous appearance, and it’s been fitted with a new diffuser, a larger wing and, of course, an underbelly skid plate. Additionally, the vehicle’s hood and giant air ducts and vents have been done up carbon-fiber finish. Joining a growing roster of tuning companies prepping off-road versions of Porsche's iconic sports car, famed tuner Gemballa announced that it was prepping an "Avalanche 4x4 911." The German company used the Avalanche's reveal to announce it would be splitting into three distinct divisions: a "Hypercar Division" to develop and build an in-house supercar, a "Luxury Customization Division" to build highly customized, limited-production creations like the Avalanche, and a "Classics Division" for maintaining and restoring vintage Gemballa cars. Gemballa also says it's working on a more powerful version of its existing 818-horsepower GTR 8XX Evo-R BiTurbo, said to be capable of 1000 horsepower. Currently, the car can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just seconds, and hit a top speed of 230 mph. So this new one should be even more absurd.
